Make Money by Referring Advertisers to The Sun Runner & Joshua Tree Tortoise Telegraph
Do you live anywhere in the Southwest? Do you know businesses that might want to reach our readers across the desert, including the 2+ million annual visitors to Joshua Tree National Park?
Could you use some money?
We need your help to fuel our growth, add pages for editorial content, and to continue our 22 years of independent desert journalism. But we don't want to make you work too hard. After all, it's pretty hot, so we've come up with an easy way for you to be part of our team as we work to "keep it real" - the real desert, of course.
All you have to do is refer potential advertisers to us. Right now, we're running Crazy Summer Ad Specials for both the Joshua Tree Tortoise Telegraph and The Sun Runner. It's an invitation only special for new advertisers, to introduce them to our publications for six months or a year.
Why six months or a year? Because every advertising study indicates you get your best results with consistent advertising, no matter what medium you use. We want our advertisers to get results with our publications (and they do!), so we've created an incredible special for them. They can advertise just in the Joshua Tree Tortoise Telegraph (monthly), or they can add The Sun Runner (quarterly).
To get started, contact us at publisher@sunrunnersw.com or through our Facebook pages. We'll put you on the list of referral partners and give you the link and password to share with potential advertisers. It's that simple. You'll receive 10% of all sales to advertisers referred by you.
It's a win-win situation. We get new advertisers, which help fund our journalism and expansion, which in turn pays you cash, and the more we grow, the more editorial coverage we can provide (which means the more support for desert issues and our communities), and the more results our advertisers will get. It's a positive cycle that ensures independent desert journalism for years to come. And we'd like you to be part of our team.
Thanks for your support! Details: We ask new advertisers to tell us who referred them to us. Please do your best to remind them to tell us about you. In the event that they do not, when you notice their ad, let us know. We have no reason to doubt you.
If more than one person has referred an advertiser and the advertiser tells us, the percentage will be split between the referrers. If the advertiser does not mention any referrers and we receive notification from multiple referrers that they referred business to that advertiser, we will do our best to ensure all parties receive a share of the referral percentage. However, if we receive notice from one referrer and then another referrer claims that advertiser after we have paid the referral percentage to the initial referrer, we reserve the right to not pay an additional 10%. It is important to try to get the advertiser to note your name as the referrer. We're not psychic, after all.
You can do this to raise funds for charity, either as an individual or group. An organization can contact potential advertisers in their area to refer advertisers to us using the organization's name and we will credit the organization. Any organizations that do this can elect to receive either 10% cash or 20% advertising credit for their referrals.
Yes, we will have prizes for those who refer the most.
You can refer advertisers from any geographic area, especially those across the Southwest. For locations outside of the hi-desert, this can be a valuable tool in helping us expand distribution and editorial coverage.
Referral percentages will be paid monthly.

When you contact us, we'll provide you with the page password.
If you have questions, please contact us at publisher@sunrunnersw.com. E-mail is the best way to reach us.
We reserve the right to alter, end, or expand this program at any time. You may be required to complete a W-9 and you may receive a 1099. Taxes on income earned are your responsibility. We have enough responsibilities already.
