The Mission Creek Preserve, operated by The Wildlands Conservancy and part of the Sand to Snow National Monument, is a 4.760 acre preserve located in a transition zone between the Sonoran/Colorado (low) Desert, and the Mojave Desert. The Preserve offers plants and wildlife from both deserts.
The center of the Preserve is a lush wetlands, with painted hills and Mount San Gorgonio in the background. The Preserve is host to numerous birds, as well as deer, bear, bighorn sheep, and mountain lions. During spring, there can be spectacular wildflower blooms.
The Preserve offers picnicking, and hiking trails, including access to the Pacific Crest Trail and the Whitewater Preserve. Camping is possible. To make a reservation to camp, contact the ranger station at the Pioneertown Mountains Preserve at (760)369-7105.
