Remembering Things Past: Marcel Proust and his music - coming to Amargosa Opera House

Pianist, Jérémie Favreau and violinist, Ken Aiso perform at the Amargosa Opera House.

Musical magic from the Belle Epoque is coming to the legendary Amargosa Opera House, Saturday, December 15, 2018.

Pianist, Jérémie Favreau and violinist, Ken Aiso, will be commemorating Marcel Proust's seminal novel, Remembrance of Things Past, with an incredible performance exploring the fictional Vineuil violin sonata contained in Proust's novel, through the performance of the actual works that inspired it: Saint-Saëns and Franck’s Violin Sonatas, as well as Fauré’s Ballade for piano.

Proust is a renowned French novelist, and this evening's program was inspired by his Remembrance of Things Past, a seven volume novel that charts Proust's recollections of his childhood and adulthood in 19th and 20th century aristocratic France.

The audience, surrounded by the stunning opera house artwork of Marta Becket, will be transported for an evening, back to the gilded age of the Belle Epoque.

This unique performance blends Proust's literary world with the music that had such an influence on it, forging a connection for the audience between passages of Proust's novel with specific musical pieces. A fascinating musical and literary journey into the world of one of France's most prominent and revered authors.

Favreau is an award-winning piano virtuoso and guest lecturer at universities in California and beyond.
