Timeless Borrego - Borrego Days returns


The 52nd Borrego Days festival comes to one of our favorite desert towns, Borrego Springs, this weekend. The festival runs Friday, October 20, through Sunday, October 22, and offers a little something for everyone.

On Friday, the festivities begin with the Borrego Days Kick Off Breakfast, from 6:30 to 9 a.m., at The Mall in front of the Anza-Borrego Foundation State Park Store. The breakfast is a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Borrego Springs.

Events continue with talks, presentations, film, and panel discussions from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center in The Center. Day passes are $15 or $10 per performance.

On Friday night, the band Smith will be performing for a free concert under the desert stars, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the fantastic La Casa Del Zorro Resort, at the Fox Den Poolside. Smith is an accomplished country and pop band with members who have performed with everyone from Albert Lee and Kenny Loggins, to Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake & Palmer fame.

Saturday marks time for the Borrego Days Parade and festivities, from 9 a.m. until noon, with the festival at Christmas Circle in the middle of town. Saturday is also time for Pints 4 the Park, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Mall, at 587 Palm Canyon Drive. Hosted by Borrego Outfitters, Fredericks Ancient & Ethnic Art, and Carmelita's Mexican Grill, there will be beer in commemorative cups, and great food, with music and dancing, all benefiting the Anza-Borrego Foundation.

Over at Carlee's, one of our favorite places to kick back like a local in downtown Borrego Springs, The Emergency Exit will be performing from 8 p.m. until midnight - which is really late for Borrego Springs.
