Take the Route 66 Relics Tour

Once a year, visitors have the opportunity to take the Route 66 Relics Tour of Route 66 sites in and around the Petrified Forest National Park and Holbrook, Arizona. It's a fascinating tour, and this year's tour, slated for June 10, from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., as part of the Holbrook Route 66 Festival, still has some openings, though they'll sell out prior to the event.

Stops on the tour include: 1. Painted Desert Point Trading Post

2. Rocky's Old Stage Station

3. LA - A Airway Beacon #51

4. Petrified Forest National Park Visitor Center (North)

5. Painted Desert Tower Trading Post

6. Painted Desert Inn (Museum)

7. Petrified Forest NP Route 66 Checking Station

8. Painted Desert Park (The Lion Farm)

9. Dead River Bridge

10. The Painted Desert Trading Post

The tour is offered on Friday, June 10, and again on Sunday June 12, and is limited to 40 persons per tour, due to space limitations on the bus. The tour guide is PFNP Paleontologist Bill Parker. A boxed lunch and transportation on an air conditioned bus are included in the $15 fee.

For reservations contact Kathleen Smith at the City of Holbrook, 928-524-5227 or e-mail kathleens@ci.holbrook.az.us.
