A report from my backyard

Looking across Joshua Tree National Park to Mt. San Jacinto.

While the COVID-19 pandemic rages across the country this autumn, I'm going through the approximately 20 million photos I have taken over the past 20+ years of my life in the Mojave Desert and beyond, and am creating virtual tours of various destinations, regions, and experiences from across the Southwest, as well as Thailand, England, New York, Seattle, Hawaii (Kauai, Maui, the Big Island), Mexico (Los Algodones, Tijuana, Tulum and the Yucatan), Belize, Charleston and South Carolina, New Jersey, the Pacific Northwest, California, and other locations.

I'm also working on numerous projects, including:

  • The launch of a climate change nonprofit organization, Our Children's World, which utilizes volunteer "citizen journalists" to learn what local, regional, state, federal, and other agencies, organizations, and businesses are doing to help address the challenges of climate change, and to use that information to help educate communities.

  • The ongoing operations of Mojave Watch, a desert issues operation that helps connect rural desert residents with upcoming issues that impact them, helping to ensure their voice is heard.

  • Partnering with the Oregon-California Trails Association, the largest historical trails preservation and advocacy nonprofit organization in the United States, on production of 24 Days of Hell: The Butterfield Overland Trail, a documentary for national PBS distribution.

  • Partnering with the Oregon-California Trails Association and Knowledge Tree Films on production of the third season of Southwest Stories with the Two Steves, a regional travel television series for national PBS distribution.

  • Publication of, Desert Dreams: 20 Years in the Mojave, a different kind of coffee table book project documenting my life and work as a photojournalist based in the desert.

  • Ongoing development of several historically and culturally-based travel television projects being pitched to select platforms.

  • Work on new original and traditional musical recordings.

  • Marketing for a select group of clients.
