Riverside County denies Paradise Valley plan

Writer's picture: Steve BrownSteve Brown

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted 5 to 0 to deny plans to build a new city on the southern border of Joshua Tree National Park. The vote followed the Planning Commission's recommendation to deny the Paradise Valley plan, and an extensive public comment period at today's Board of Supervisors meeting that was overwhelmingly in support of denial of the plan.

Mojave Watch would like to thank all of those who took time to respond to our Action Alert in our email newsletter and on social media, to ensure their voice was heard by the Board of Supervisors. As a result of the actions of many people and organizations, Shavers Valley, site of the proposed new city, along with Joshua Tree National Park, remain protected for now.
