Morongo Basin residents defended the DRECP during the BLM's recent public scoping meeting on a proposal to reopen the desert plan to allow additional development.

Thanks to the Morongo Basin Conservation Association, we have video of a conservation organization panel discussion and public comment period that occured on March 1, in relation to the BLM's public scoping meeting on the proposed reopening of the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP).

The DRECP, finalized in 2016, took approximately eight years to craft, and set aside lands for conservation, recreation, and energy development across the California deserts. The Trump administration has directed the BLM to look into reopening the DRECP to allow additional energy development on lands designated for conservation and recreation under the DRECP.
